Nikko Thor 4x4 Video
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:01:24 »

I made a short video of my Nikko Thor 4x4 monster truck. I replaced the stock 380 motors with twin 540's, works pretty decent. I also reworked the suspension for more travel and added some traxxas oil filled shocks.

Nice video! I love the nikko thor chassis.

A long time ago I installed a stock 540 in place of a pair of 380's, and the stock speed control could not handle it well at all.
But looks like it worked out fine for you. Now I wonder if the motor I was trying to use was bad.

It depends on the motor you put in it. A higher turn motor wont overload a stock speed control and can be run for long amounts of time. Some stock motors can be 45 turns or higher and wont overload where as a 20 turn or lower will over heat it.

I bought a black thor body to put on my red one 4 months ago but they never sent it. Nice video btw, the truck looks good

They are just stock tamiya motors, so far they havent cooked the stock electronics. I dont really use the truck anyways, its mostly for the shelf.
