I think I have a pair of 17 turns on my tamiya Wild Dagger. Has all kinds of tourq and good speed. But I also have a super rooster, what speed control does you clod have?

yeah I just use a 6 cell 7.2 volt pack.
You wont beable to cheap out on the speed control, takes a lot to run 2 mod motor's and you'll want reverse for sure. I dont think Novak makes the super rooster any more, but you'll want somthing with the same spec's.
