Title: Struck gold on tyco rebounds today
Post by: Tyco Bandit King on February 26, 2011, 20:00:35
So first im at my shop and my cousin comes by with a surprise. turns out he found his old rebound that I havent seen in 15 years. I figured it would have been thrown out long ago so it was cool to see it again. Since ive been working on his car he just gave it to me. It looked like he barely used it and the tires are still soft and fresh.

Then about an hour ago I saw an auction for 2 rebounds that were at .99 so i watched the auction and bid at the last minute to win them for just $18! So I happened to get 3 original rebounds today for basically $6 each.

Somebody stop me! lol

My son just found mine from when I was a kid. But mine is beat up pretty good. I some how got a 9.6 pack in mine many many years ago, Is it suppose to take some kind of 6.0v pack or some thing?
But mine has a locking swivel side thing a mabob dohicky.
It's charging as I type. I remember it being more fun with a 9.6 pack thou. lol
Anyways, nice score. You gonna mod them at all?

With a locking swivel it sounds like you have a super rebound. The old rebounds take a 6.0v pack and the supers take the 7.2v flex packs.

Since ive got 3 of the old rebounds I think im gonna take the one in the worst shape and mod it to the max. I want it to be twice as fast as stock

So are you going to change out the motor's and electronics? If so do you have a dual stick radio?

I will have to find a hobby grade radio and speed control from an rc tank. It will be plenty fast with the stock motors but will replace them when they wear out

I've been into R/C's for over 20 years, and I have never wore out 280 motor.
But I have worn down some some brushes on a mod motor.

Yeah they last because they usually dont have much voltage put on them and the speed controls they use are a drag on the power output. I ran a 7.4v lipo on a car with a 280 and it burned up before the battery was half dead. That was about 3x the power they normally have put on them. I was kinda upset since I had that motor for 18 years haha. Just gotta keep the voltage down and they will last
