Title: New Circus Maximus
Post by: Dragon on October 09, 2008, 01:21:38
I saw on Funagain Games that there was a new Circus Maximus game on their Pre-Order List (http://funagain.com/control/product/~product_id=019854/~affil=DRGH). My first thought was, 'Wow! That could be cool if they tweaked the rules to that game!'

Then I checked the details... It's not the same game. It doesn't look bad though. The new game has been described as "scalper management (http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/boardgamenews/comments/game_preview_circus_maximus/)" and apparently it was going to be called Scalpus Maximus, but for some reason they decided to take the name of a game that already exists instead.

Game play is approximately an hour for 3 to 5 players, so it could be a good one for my gaming groups, especially since gaming events are so irregular right now. I'll have to see how reviews from Essen 2008 (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/120409) tout it.

I never got the game, but I did come across another site that mentioned it:

In addition to being the center of an Empire, ancient Rome was also the entertainment capitol of the western world. Where else could you see chariot races, gladiatorial competitions, large-scale battle re-enactments, or mix and mingle at Caesar?s villa? If only you could get tickets?
