Title: figured out how to take the bandit solid axle trans apart!!
Post by: performerrpm on August 22, 2010, 20:52:16
what i mean is how to get the back wheel off since thats what the hold up is most of the time when trying to take one apart. i had a bandit chassis that was in good shape aside from one wheel being striped on the nut on the axle and i had an extra super bandit rear that cliked in reverse but with nice wheels. if you grab both wheels and gently twist in opposite directions it will free the nut from the axle and spin right off even tho its not threaded. to put back on i turned the side with the wheel down onto a small 1/4 drive socket with the drive side up since its smaller than the axle nut, this holds the axle still then put the replacement wheel and nut on, and with a 1/4 inch screwdriver bit turned backwards where the flat side sticks out, you can tap the nut back on the axle without damage to the wheels and it still mnages the press fit it takes to keep the nut from just spinning.

hope this helps someone!  now if i could figure out how to use this same plan on the ones with differential instead of solid axles or in one of my extras case, a broken but solid axle!

oh yeah, this works on all the other tycos that pretty much use the same  chassis parts i just said bandit because thats what i was working on
