I'm going to have a busy night at work with "End Of Month" jobs to complete, so I thought I'd try to write a quick journal entry before it hits the fan. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'll be doing some overtime to cover Ken's shift this week too, so I REALLY hope that there isn't anything that screws up. That could really drag me down for the rest of my extended workweek.
I called up Jeremy (JadeArt) tonight before I got to work. I'm glad that both Jeremy and Deborah seem to be doing well. They have recently gotten settled into their new home and Jeremy has set up a "workshop" for his painting and stuff. I wish that we had time to go visit our friends out of state, but even visiting local friends is difficult right now.
We did manage to get out to some yard sales on Sunday morning since Beth's mom watched the kids. We were trying to find some toys and stuff to play with, especially for E****. I was hoping to find some board games too (of course) but we didn't see any at all. We tried stopping at some thrift stores too, but they were all closed on Sunday. (I used to be a Sun-day worshipper too, so I sort of understand why they would be closed.)
Beth gave me another small birthday gift: a miniature deck of cards. It's nice to have something easily portable to play with, not that regular cards are portable, but these ones are even easier to carry in my pocket. Also, they fit on the desk easier than normal sized cards would. I've noticed a flaw in the deck though that would deter hardcore card players - an irregular card. All the cards in the deck except one King seem to be uniform, but that one card could give itself away. Either way, it's still good enough for a casual game. I can't imagine playing a serious game with miniature cards anyway.
