It's late. I wasn't planning on being up right now but that the life of a night shift operator. I really have a hard time in transition to being awake during the daylight hours on my "weekend". Ok… so I'm ok for the afternoon, but morning - no.

Today, err, yesterday my brother came over to play some games. I got him to try out a new board game that I'm designing. I'm currently referring to it as "Project: Falcon". I don't want to say much about it yet in my journal (especially not in what I publish online) because I do have high hope of actually creating a marketable game this time and, not that I think someone would really be interested in stealing my ideas but, I'd hate for my key elements of the game to leak out too soon. Anyway, after a few hours of play testing and discussion, Tim was finally burned out and was ready for a real game… something that already had established rules.

We played Pente for a while, keeping a close score throughout 15 games. The end result was with me ahead by one single game.

Beth and her mom were ready to play a game and we thought Oodles would be interesting to try again. We played twice; I won once and Tim won the second game.

Beth then convinced me to bring out the Therapy game again. There was quite a bit more discussion at the table this time with 4 players than is has been with just 3, which was good for some things but seriously slowed down the game. We didn't even have time to finish because Tim had to leave and I believe we had already spent two hours on that one game. It was no great loss for me to quit before the end of this game though because we had already started recycling "Therapy" questions. I know that's the name of the game, but you have to use the "Therapy" cards so often that within three game plays the "Therapy" cards are becoming old while we haven't hardly touched the "Insight" cards. There are way more "Insight" cards than necessary under the current rules. I think the main problem is that the "Therapy Office" spaces are 7 spaces away from each other and since you roll two 6-sided dice to move you have the highest odds of ending right in the next "Therapy Office" as soon as you get out of one.
