I got an email from my Java Programming instructor this morning. He has decided to change which textbook we’ll be using for the class if there is a consensus with all the remaining students. I’m glad because I was really getting behind, as I’m sure the rest of the class was because I didn’t see any message board updates in the last week and they are part of our weekly assignments. “Teech” said that he would be changing the book on Saturday so I’m going to relax a bit and take a short breather.
Last night Beth and I worked on the dining room floor some more. We put down some edging and a couple layers of clear coat. After the first coat we took a break and watched Johnny English, starring “Mr. Bean” Rowan Atkinson. I also played a little bit of GTA: Vice City before going to bed also.
Today Beth and I will be going to Celebration Station, to act like kids and
ride the go-karts. We’re celebrating our 9th anniversary tomorrow and
this will be a nice little chance to get out and have some fun, with thanks
to Beth’s mom for watching the kids.
Finally my website is back up. It’s been down quite a bit recently due to some bad hard drive sectors on the web server. Thankfully the host did some upgrades yesterday and replaced the hard drive. I hope now I won’t have to deal with the down time as much. (I know that occasional downtime has to be expected, but recently it was a bit much.)
At work I’m currently in training to take over another job that we’re probably not going to get paid for. The grand vision of how things are going to be in the end looks good in some aspects, but it’s not really where I want to go. I know that some of my co-workers are not happy either, although they aren’t necessarily the same reason as I have. Additionally, one of our co-workers was just fired for screwing around at work. Things will probably be cracking down soon, not that it should affect me much because most of the time anymore I’m either studying or being trained on another job. I’m really feeling overloaded.
I’m still struggling through my Advanced Java class. I never thought
it was going to be this difficult for me to get through it, especially since
I did really well in Java 1 and my first C++ class. I guess I was expecting
more of an Intermediate class since this is just “Java 2”. Now on
top of reading my current assignments I have to go back and review my first
Java book and try to find stuff online to bridge the gap. I know that the rest
of my class is dealing with the same thing based on a few messages that went
out on the message board and through email. I wonder how many people will last
to the end of the semester.
