Roller Coaster Tycoon BoardGame
« on: November 12, 2010, 22:52:08 »
We just happened to find a used, but seemingly complete, set of the Roller Coaster Tycoon BoardGame. The box is a bit smashed up, but inside all the pieces were doing pretty well, and were even bagged and banded together. (Not a bad find for $4 after donating some building materials at the ReStore.)

Anyway, after getting the roller coasters built (just for aesthetics), and reading through the rules, it was pretty easy to get started with my wife and two kids. The game states it is for ages 8 and up, but my two 7 year olds did pretty well playing with some extra coaching here and there. The cool thing about this game to me is that it's pretty easy for kids, but the auctions and "guest points" (essentially "victory points") adds just enough Euro-game style to make this seem like a great game to keep my son from getting stuck in the Monopoly rut.
"Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing?... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on. Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes." - Roy (The IT Crowd)
