Two Tyco 9.6V Turbo Bandits
« on: February 23, 2009, 08:24:14 »
Black/Yellow 9.6v Turbo Bandit with Controller

Black/Red 9.6v Turbo Bandit with Controller

9.6v Tyco Battery Pack

9.6v New Bright Battery Pack

Spare Tyco Rear End

I only ran the trucks a couple of times in my basement and they have been sitting on the shelf for the last year or more so it's time to let them go. Both trucks still run, forward, turbo, reverse, left and right steering.

The black/red Bandit is in really nice shape, the chrome on the wheels look great. Battery compartment door is intact, no broken tabs. All four tires are nice and soft with lots of tread left. The low gear does grind but the high gear is still good, I'm including another rear end. I tested the spare rear end by connecting the motor wires to the battery pack, gears sounded fine but I have not tested it under load so I can not confirm the gears do not grind under load.

The black/yellow Bandit is in great shape, the truck works mint and is really fast. Battery compartment door is intact, no broken tabs. Both high and low gear are nice and smooth. All four tires are nice and soft with lots of tread left. As you can see in the pictures it's missing stickers down one side and top of the truck.

Both Battery packs were bought new last summer and only used a couple times.

Please keep in mind these trucks are used and from the late 1980's so they do have some wear on them, but they are in really nice shape for there age.

EDIT: I just ran the red Bandit and the steering on ocasion would not make a right turn,  I'll have to take a look at it later tonight. Could just be bad connection from the steering servo wires to the circuit board because it will turn left and right sometimes, I'll check the wires and give an update on it's condition.

UPDATE: I cleaned the contacts in the remote and the steering is turning left and right again :) I have batteries on charge now and I'm going to run a couple packs thru the truck to confirm the steering is working. I will update again and post a video to show working order of the trucks

Yeah they're nice to look at on the shelf, but I have enough RC's and I'm trying to thin out my collection.

No luck on Ebay, thought I'd try here. I'll hold out awhile to sell as a package deal, but I might seperate them if need be. But I'm in no real need to sell them anyway, just thought I'd give someone else the chance to fill that childhood void :)

It's probobly the sprung copper wiper that slides on the circuit board, either in the servo or the transmitter. Either it's mot making a good connnection any more, or it has worn through the board.

I'll check that after work. I have another servo if it needs to be replaced.

Mark, do you have a specific price in mind for the pair or just looking for offers?
"Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing?... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on. Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes." - Roy (The IT Crowd)

I have to check the steering on the red Bandit before I set a price. I'll update after I have time to take a loot at it. I was also going to post a couple short videos to show the trucks running.

lol

I currently have an offer of $170 plus shipping.

I'm on photobucket right now uploading a video of the trucks running. I'll post the video when it's finished, seems to be taking a long time to upload.
