When I look around at Walmart & Target I mostly see newbright. Last time I was at Radio Shack it looked like they had a few decent ones, but looks like there moving to newbright to. I have'nt been to toys-r-us in many years, so dont know what they have. Some times at christmas I see "pro" series stuff that looks all right. One looked like a clone of a traxxas wrestler. I picked up a maisto crawler few years back, was'nt bad. Hotwheels/tyco had some good stuff, but dont know if they are still making stuff.

I saw some Nikko cars at Toys R Us recently that looked pretty cool. They had fully proportional controls. They were smaller cars though, not like the old Tyco trucks. And of course there were a bunch of New Bright cars and trucks.

Yeah they dont make anything like they used to. Everything made now is cheap junk and i really feel sorry for kids growing up in this generation without a rc case at toys r us without cool cars in it lol. Radio shack doesnt even make rc cars anymore.

yeah i'm surprised new bright is still aroud. the buggies they make now are made of the most brittle plastics. like disposable silverware plastic. new bright have never been known to hold up but somehow they survived the toy crunch. any rc's i get for my kids are going to come from ebay. it would be nice to see nikko and taiyo/tyco come back before i get old but kids would rather play a video game where they drive an rc rather than actually going outside and physically driving one so i dont see how they would stay in business.

I'm sure the profit on the new brights are huge for department stores.
They hardly even use many screws any more, some of the latest chassis I've seen are just snapped together with fake suspension.
New Bright put's 90% into making the body look good in the packaging, and 10% into the chassis/motor/performance.

I've seen a few New Brights on Craigslist because it was less than they expected. I watched some vids of a NB Hummer and it's a sad sight.

New brights were at their best in 99 then they started f'ing up the bodies and the motors became weak. Then a few years later they made a few cars that would go 20mph and the big under powered 1/6 cars that only looked cool. Later they made 1/6 scale trucks with 4wd that had no guts and later juiced them up with dual 19.2 v batteries and they were actually pretty powerful.

In the last few years theyve made nothing but ugly, underpowered and cheaply built cars because they know that the average moron buying their kid a car isnt going to consider whether it has power or not. If new bright had any clue they would start mass producing scale bodies and sell them in the hobby world.

I love watching the YouTube vids of the kids making reviews of the new bright cars who never had anything else. 6 mph is sad for a 1/8 scale that can't go though short grass  ;D

ive bought my son a few 6v/9.6v/12v new bright they have all sucked like tbk said  i to admit there body work is very good bet they would earn some bucks if they released them for the hobbyist
