New Style New Bright 9.6v Motor Upgrade

Hello All,
I've been browsing through the forums and I see there are quite a few New Bright trucks with upgraded motors etc, but they all appear to be an older style. My son recently bought a brand new New Bright F150 Raptor 9.6v with his birthday money. The motor seems pretty weak and I was curious if anyone has upgraded one of these. Some of the posts I've read here regarding upgrades mentioned two speed trannies.
We don't have any of that. The motor is in the back axle, and its just one speed.
Could be a fun little project, would appreciate any ideas or experiences.

The newer new brights are pretty flimsy. Fake suspension, and the gear box's are just snapped together some times with out any screws. Gears are narrow. I wouldn't expect it to stay together even if you did upgrade the motor and electronics.
