by Wyldwing on 2009-08-20 22:06:03 UTC
Nathaniel, my man!
I am looking at joining you with an order. I think Chris, as N isn't going with you to DragonCon, that you were going to join us...right?
My responsibility, then, is to choose $50 worth of games.
Thurn & Taxis $26.95
Dominion $35.99
So I'm there!!! How bout you guys?

I'll need to look over my wishlist again to see what games I've been interested in getting recently.

Let'd discuss this on Tuesday...I went out and purchased Thurn and Taxis...so now I need a different choice!

I am giving you guys your presents early this year. I am commandeering the Funagain order thread and making it your opportunity to tell me what boardgame(s) you want for Christmas.
This includes everyone in the current group of semi-regular gamers:
Dragon
Other Chris
Tampamac
& Wylders
The only restriction is that the total cost of your requests should not equal too much more than $40.00 each.
When all four of you have put your requests in will I submit the order, so the sooner the better. If I don't get yours by the last day I can put the order in to get it shipped before Christmas, then you'll just be getting gift certificates.
"TylerChuit, that's very nice of you. What could we possibly give you for Christmas?" Glad you asked. I'm off the whole week between Christmas and New Years Day, and I'd like at least one partial game day. Work it out amongst yourselves, and let me know... or socks, I'm not picky.
by dragon on 2009-11-30 22:05:35 UTC
Wow! Thanks Chris! I'm definitely up for some gaming during that time.
Ooo... that new Cosmic Encounter from Fantasy Flight Games game would be cool, but wouldn't mind having my own copy of Power Grid, or even Ca$h 'N Gun$. Is that enough to allow you to surprise me with one of those, or do I have to choose one specifically?
by TylerChuit on 2009-12-01 13:43:27 UTC
Since the posts were turning into stuff about the next game day, I split it into a new thread here.
And you don't need to list multiple games for surprise. It will just lead to me choosing the one of those that I'd like for us to play. I'd rather keep it to what you would like most.
by tampamac2002 on 2009-12-01 17:15:56 UTC
Wow! :o
What a gesture.
I am so cheap my butt squeaks when I walk, or so my wife says.
I would feel like I owe you a <=$40 gift in return.
I haven't even looked at the site, so I'll need a day or two. I'll take a look during lunch today.
Christmas is going to be tough for me this year, I just found out it's going to take $3500 to get my roof replaced professionally and I still have to put up the ceiling and insulation once it is done.
I can't just get you socks, or even just a Game Day. Although I am certainly going to do my best to attend the 12/27 extravaganza being planned.
Can I just owe you, 'cause I will certainly feel like I do.
May not be until after March that I can return the kindness, house insurance is due. Last of my big bills.

Look, you're not the only person who has expressed this concern. I understand that times are tight, and you guys all have families to take care of. I don't, and this year has been pretty good to me.
Besides, Christmas is the time for giving, not exchanging things of equal value. If we only gave presents when we could all give the same amount, Christmas would only occur about every third leap year. So please accept my gift without worrying about what you feel you'd owe me.
Also, I do highly value the time we can get together as a group to game or watch movies or whatever... and if I happen to get to play the games I buy for you guys, all the better. :)
by tampamac2002 on 2009-12-01 18:47:23 UTC
I understand, and thank you.
I have decided on Pandemic, unless someone already has it. I would prefer to expand on the existing collection.
Just to re-iterate, I also enjoy the time we spend together, whatever the setting. I would be interested in trying to do something the middle of December. Heck, I'd even be willing to host.

Pandemic is a great choice. I have played it a few times in Atlanta, and it's pretty fun. Jason has his version tricked out with petrie dishes to store the virus cubes in, and different colored vials to represent the discovered cures.
by the unnamable on 2009-12-01 20:28:18 UTC
wow that's real cool of you Chris I'm OK with any day ill would be OK with hosting my self as well if we could get a game night in mid December i would like that
the games i was looking at was
when darkness comes: the awakening
when darkness comes: the horror within
like mac if one of you has this let me know sense you are the only grope i game with

Thank you Chris!!! Love you too!
How about Dominion?
by TylerChuit on 2009-12-02 05:02:45 UTC
All sound good...
to review:
Dragon: Cosmic Encounter
Mac: Pandemic
Chris: When Darkness Comes (Base Game + expansion)
Wyldwing: Dominion
If everyone is happy with the selections they've made, I'll go ahead and place the order Wednesday evening after work.
by dragon on 2009-12-02 05:10:55 UTC
Cool. Thanks again Chris!

Funagain's delivery tracking system showing our order's current location. ;D

That's cool! 8)

I just checked it last night. It's on its way to Jacksonville, and it looks like Thought Hammer is trying to connect in to the route to send something to Portland.
by TylerChuit on 2009-12-10 20:47:00 UTC
Nothing for the TransAmerica shipping joke? Wow... tough message board. :-\
Anyway, I just checked. The package got to my house around noon!
I'll give them to you next Thursday if we are able to get together, so you can look over the rules and maybe we can play some of them on the 27th.
by tampamac2002 on 2009-12-11 15:25:57 UTC
I absolutely loved the shipping joke, even though it was truly a joke on me. I actually thought the Fun Again Games site was providing you shipping information in Trans American board shots. :D
After speaking with you Wednesday, I now realize you were going above and beyond with the shipping information.
Thanks for the extra effort, I thought it was really cool, I just happened to give too much credit to Fun Again, and not enough to you, Chris.
:P

I thought the TransAmerica board showing the shipping was very cool. (See my comment above.) I thought the thing about Thought Hammer might have been another joke, but I wasn't sure what Thought Hammer was and didn't feel like ruining another joke. I see now that Thought Hammer is another board game retail business.
by Wyldwing on 2009-12-11 22:30:25 UTC
I thought it was brilliant, but I wanted to see updates with TransAmerica at every via point in the transit...and...seeing it touchdown in Florida would have been cool!!
by TylerChuit on 2009-12-15 06:25:46 UTC
I had planned to, but I still don't have table space to spread out the entire board. I tried taking pictures of parts of the board, and piecing them together, but that was too much work for what this was.
