I made a mistake yesterday by uninstalling an app using Installatron in GoDaddy that I thought wouldn’t affect my website. The code that it had installed had already been removed. The database that it used had lots of other tables in it and I assumed it would at least give me a warning before it tried deleting any tables from my DB, but no, it didn’t. Not only that, it deleted my entire database! I thought I had a recent database backup. I also thought I had my recent blogs archived on Archive.org, but I guess I was wrong about those too. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any good backup that I could find, so I lost several of my recent blog posts. So this is another reminder to myself and anyone reading, especially if you haven’t checked recently, double check your backup.
