Rant: How is sending jobs off-shore good for American Economics?

by Ernie on 2010-12-07 15:00:43 UTC

I just don't get it.

I understand that we (as a country) want to cultivate trade and good will with other countries that are in need of assitance, but how does sending jobs outside the country a benefit? Companies that do that get a tax break, but it still denies the American parent of 4 a job.
No americans working means a drain on social resources.
Americans working mean taxes paid and resources replenished, along with the circle of economics kept going.

I just don't get it.

I was just laid-off from a job where the company outsources so much of their technology department to India that the division in India now controls a huge portion of the company. Now, we aren't allowed to work on certain projects in the U.S. because it could be stepping on India's toes.
