by Tyco Bandit King on 2011-01-02 22:20:34 UTC

I thought it might be cool to see all the trucks out there with a tyco bandit body or anything else they have fit one on using a Nissan hardbody king cab

from left to right is:

black outlaw
red outlaw
black bandit
red bandit
blue 4wd turbo racing pickup
tamiya prerunner chassis
radioshack modified enforcer
tamiya king cab

I left out all the doubles and triples of some but heres the different trucks ive come up with

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-02 23:27:29 UTC

Thats a wild cougar from radio shack made in 1992 and sorry but im too attached to the 2 I have to sell them lol. my brother got that for xmas the same year i got the one next to it.

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-02 23:40:36 UTC

haha its cool i'd love to see a better picture of it, really i just want an outlaw. i didn't realize how small they were but i should have known they were though.

i have the nikko road shredder which is probably the same as that just different bodies.

p.s. you really need to get your whole collection up on the other thread!

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 00:09:48 UTC

Yeah its the same chassis, very similar to the shredder just with a different radio and controller, pistol grip instead of square.

Ive done nothing but take pics of these today lol, i will try to fit in some time to get another picture of the wild cougar.

I willl post up a a bunch of pictures of the collection here just as soon as i can

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 00:17:09 UTC

if you would sell me a outlaw would you be able to mod it to be a faster and all around better. kinda like a mini hobby grade truck?

my plan originally when i thought it was the same size as the bandit body was to put the outlaw body on a bandit chasis and use the power boost batteries to power headlights or some kinda lights on the truck

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 00:30:12 UTC

I do have an outlaw that has had all the stickers removed and has a stripped out low gear. I might sell that or the working mint red one. The only way to mod these to make them fast is by swapping the rear axle out, from there its a breeze.

I was gonna make the black one a hobby car and have an actual upgradeable rear end as well as a full suspension instead of just the rear suspension it has

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 02:11:12 UTC

well, if you made one hobby i would buy both. for a good price. i appreciate work people put into a custom built anything

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 02:54:55 UTC

heres my nissans.....

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 02:59:54 UTC

i remember my friend having that same radio shack treaded truck, i use to borrow it as much as possible, i ended up with a blue shark by radio shack and another friend had the 9.6v scorcher along with a black truck fast traxx, sadly none of thos r/cs survived much pass christmas time

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:04:01 UTC

is 300 a good price for a nice black bandit in box?

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:16:27 UTC

when you realize these bandits was anywhere from 49-69 bucks new back when, no its not, but if you find one in the box  you can expect to give that much these days. my black bandit in the box i paid a lil over 300 for and it was not mint but bareley used, but the bumper was broken off during shipping to the seller.

my red bandit i paid 250 for and itlooks like it was never driven, so yep 250-350 depending who is bidding against ya

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:22:13 UTC

hmm okay i'll never pay that haha. but yours look awesome, i should have bid on that red one.

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 03:25:20 UTC

It really just depends on how people are in this economy. I see bandits goin anywhere from $150-350 nice in box but usually the end up goin for around $250. I wouldnt feel bad about paying $300 for one in box if its truly nice. Everyones opinion on nice, mint, excellent, perfect etc vary so it just comes down to what kind of shape its actually in.

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:28:11 UTC

well there is a black one on ebay that did have a buy it now of 300 but people bid on it here it is

i was going to buy it but no one was on at the time to ask if i should

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:29:36 UTC

thats who i bought my red one from
he is turbo bandit on this site

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:31:49 UTC

oh snap!!

o'm going to pm him!

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:32:08 UTC

thats a nice one to have for sure, you could probaly get him to work a deal. if i wasnt already bandit'ed out, id jump on that one myself

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:35:26 UTC

yeah i wouldn't mind that one, even though i really want a red one!!!!!!!!

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:38:48 UTC

yep, the red ones are best,

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 03:41:03 UTC

and that guy is the one who came and bought my red new in box bandit from me haha, were all kinda connected by bandits here lol

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:43:30 UTC

i'm the one lacking a bandit though haha!  so iguess this means i need to buy this one.

preformer--i see your not keeping the mini typhoon, if you have kids they might really like it. its actually faster on water

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:45:25 UTC

and that guy is the one who came and bought my red new in box bandit from me haha, were all kinda connected by bandits here lol

actually, if the red bandit you sold him is the one he still has, i came very close to owning it, but at hefty price of about 500 bucks, he got cold feet which i was kinda glad, but he later aquired the other red bandit that i have now which is identicle in stickering to his as far as i know, which just say bandit on the side minus the 9.6v turbo

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:48:52 UTC

yeah the water is the problem, theres not awhole lot close by where they could get any use from it.

ill probaly thin some out once i get the rest here, not really much a blaster guy either although i may swap motors and board out in the black bandit for the blasters since banditking said theyre faster.

out of the 5 i bought the lambo is the only one that i like the most

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:51:06 UTC

but the bandit is so fun to wheelie!!! it is king!!

by performerrpm on 2011-01-03 03:54:41 UTC

yeah but it cheats with the waited rockets in the back.

but the real king of wheelies is the 9.6v tyco assasin, you cant hardly drive it without it doing wheelies

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 03:59:16 UTC

see i dont know what that one is or looks like.i've heard the hammer is good at wheeling.

p.s. turbobandit already got an offer from someone else  :-[

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 05:12:24 UTC

there is actually a difference in the bandits that have 9.6v turbo on them and the ones that dont, here they are:

bandits without 9.6v turbo-were the version of the red and black 2nd gen bandits

had a completely different axle with a differential

had the gear switch on the back instead of through the bed using a lever

handled better

slightly faster-higher gearing

bandits with 9.6v turbo writing

had a locked rear or a (spool)-meaning both wheels spin no matter what

gear switch was a slide which was changed using the cut out in the bed

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 05:16:58 UTC

If you have a good battery and healthy hammer it will pull a wheelie from a dead stop without having to reverse on carpet. The mutator can do wheelies to tho no from a dead stop.

I will never forget the day back in 1996 when I first got my mutator I had it in off-road mode and was toping it out on my drive way full speed then slammed it in reverse, it did an endo and stood up balanced on the front bumper for about 2 full seconds then layed over on its top. I could never get it to do that again

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 16:11:38 UTC

haha wow just to let you guys know turbobandit is selling the red bandit in box.

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-03 17:52:34 UTC

Ok guys, I just walked next door to the sign shop and asked them about printing up decals for the bandit. All I need for them to get started is an image of them on computer in illustrated art form. Once they have that it will take another week and they can start printing them out.

Does anybody here know how to recreate them in illustrated art form or know anyone who can?  Worst case I can find someone to do it but this means I can have them made in any scale.

by djdarkforces on 2011-01-03 17:55:58 UTC

i only got this 1 hand a fast traxx with a nissan hardbody

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-03 18:40:23 UTC

there is a guy on here who does plastic sculpting, hr might know who to do that but you show post this qustion in the blogs or general discussions.

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-04 00:26:43 UTC

I can have the guy at the sign shop do it but hes wanting $200 to do the work. Although I can assure its done right I will already have enough tied up in the the decaling alone. I will probably end up having him print off a dozen in each color and for both scales of bandits and sell them

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-04 00:35:33 UTC

i'd buy a set or two

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-04 02:13:06 UTC

Ok I made the outlaw a 4wd hobby car today!

Not really lol, but I am researching and axle to swap underneath the stock truck then I will swap out all the electronics

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-04 02:20:27 UTC

you are killing me here i wanted to do this. but different, haha what are you going to do with the power coming from the engined in the bed?

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-04 02:27:03 UTC

I will probably run new wires from the boost motor direct to the speed control that way when I plug the motor in ill have an extra 2.4 volts. Ive got some high amp rechargables that will do it good.  I just put the body on it to see what it would look like but if I do decide to run it on this chassis instead of the stock then ill Lower the body down to correct level and boost the shocks up.

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-04 02:30:38 UTC

put lights on it!!! haha well, now i'll need to get the red one from you instead, unless you would sell the other black one too

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-04 03:30:58 UTC

Haha yeah I need to think what I wanna do with them so I can get started. You should check out the general rc forum in about 10 mins to see how I did a hobby conversion on an old radio shack truck.

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-04 03:43:18 UTC

alright, let my know when you come up with a price for the outlaw or outlaws.

i wanted to upgrade my nikko road shredder, make it faster and put lights in it since it has yellow clear head lights

by Viper GTS on 2011-01-04 04:32:01 UTC

I was wanting to do that with my super fast traxx i used to have and my wild cougar. About 10 years ago I jumped the super fast traxx off a flight of 12 stairs and it was the coolest thing to watch but after several jumps I ended up not having reverse on one side so it was up for a hobby car. All you need is a radio system from a hobby tank and its the easiest conversion

by czstycor/c on 2011-01-04 04:37:47 UTC

see people say its easy but i know nothing of the inner workings of electronics. look at my posting in general rc.

i have two super fast traxx, and plan on getting the one on ebay that has the extra treads, but is lacking a back wheel, i don't know where to go to get one made. my second one had no treads but i had spares cause i rqan mine so hard as a kid i broke one and my daad ordered 4 more

by performerrpm on 2011-01-04 09:22:13 UTC

hmm okay i'll never pay that haha. but yours look awesome, i should have bid on that red one.

iam glad iam the only one who seen its potential....lol

by morgrp on 2011-05-25 16:22:23 UTC

I'm looking for a replacement hardbody shell if anybody has a spare they want to sell???

by stan on 2011-06-08 23:55:48 UTC

by just_chilin on 2011-11-24 01:55:42 UTC

is that a little pull back toy?!

No, i thought it was when I first saw it (which would have been awesome), its just a push toy, the tracks turn though. Never seen one like this, have you?

by czstycor/c on 2011-11-24 03:03:22 UTC

no i haven't looks like a cereal box toy

by just_chilin on 2011-11-24 03:47:57 UTC

no i haven't looks like a cereal box toy

I wish they would put these in cereal boxes nowadays! :D  It reminded me of a Mcdonald's Happy Meal toy, also  ;D.

by poptart on 2011-11-24 06:17:12 UTC

It is a pull back,,,the spring has broke inside or come loose over the years,,,,if you have that silly little triangle bit you can take it apart and fix it,,ive fixed a few a long time ago

by just_chilin on 2011-11-24 07:15:15 UTC

Oh nice, I saw your link you left on my other posting, thank for that and for the info. I just got it today so I havent really looked at it too close, must be a spring, I just assumed it was just a push toy. Very kool, Ill take a peek at it tomorrow and see what it needs to get it working again. Thanks!!!

by just_chilin on 2011-11-24 16:58:29 UTC

Ha, it turns out if was a pull back! It was a little sticky at first, but it works pretty good now. Pretty cool!
