how fast will it go?

by Gamester on 2011-12-05 19:26:40 UTC

Hey czstycor/c,

I am not sure exactly, but I would suspect around 20MPH.  I would grab my radar gun and check, if there wasn't a bunch of snow out side that is, lol.  Keep in mind also that this is a hobby grade chassis, so motors and electronics can always be upgraded to get as much speed as you want ;D

Thanks

yea they are a great wee chassis here's a video i made of mine ages ago. just to give an idea of how they perform.

by Gamester on 2011-12-09 02:39:13 UTC

Hey rodncathstewart,

Yea, the Losi mini chassis is a good performer right out of the box and since my modifications actually lengthen the wheelbase a bit, the ride is even more stable than stock.  Also, the added weight of the Bandit body really allows for the suspension to absorb bumps and uneven ground with utmost ease.

Thanks for the video link.  That video shows some really cool views with the on-board camera ;D

by poptart on 2011-12-09 22:13:04 UTC

those are quick little boggers!!!

by czstycor/c on 2011-12-10 04:10:01 UTC

how much does one of these buggies cost without the mods to fit a bandit body?

by Gamester on 2011-12-10 04:20:12 UTC

Hello czstycor/c,

The original buggy is in the range of $150-$200 brand new today, depending on where you buy it from.  It retailed at $259.99 when it was first released.

Hey guys,

Just to give everyone the heads up, the auction ends tonight...

Thanks

by Gamester on 2011-12-12 03:18:40 UTC

Wow, I am really shocked that there was no bids :o

I guess no one realizes just how cool these are.  O'well, their loss.

If anyone wants to buy this one direct from me for $200 PayPal, let me know.  I will throw in free shipping to anywhere in the US.

Thanks,
Gamester

by czstycor/c on 2011-12-12 03:56:49 UTC

you should make a video of it compared to a stock bandit

by fatboyfsx on 2011-12-12 03:58:33 UTC

It sounds like a really cool idea actually if you had an extra scratched up Bandit body to throw on there.  It looks great and actually very similar to the original, nice job.  I'm sure no one bid because they would rather spend the money on real Tycos since the price is up there, hard decision to drop $200 when that could buy another sweet old Tyco in excellent shape.

Yea get a video up let's see this thing in action  8)

by poptart on 2011-12-12 05:54:42 UTC

if you still have them avail after xmas i might just pick one up from ya gamester

by Gamester on 2011-12-12 07:15:06 UTC

Yea, being so close to Christmas probably had something to do with it, since everyone's spare pocket money is probably spent by now.  Making a video would be a good idea, if I had a camcorder that is, lol.  I'm not sure how much a video would help though anyways since anyone who is into RC knows practically any modern day RC could out perform any old Tyco.  I wish I had a bunch of Bandit bodies so it would be more complete from the get go.  I guess it was a good thing I didn't spend the time and money to make a bunch of these.  I currently have only this one available though if anyone wants it.

The offer remains on the table for $200 Paypal shipped anywhere in the US...

Do you have a Bandit body you could throw in with it?

by czstycor/c on 2011-12-13 03:41:02 UTC

a have a crappy body for it haha

by Gamester on 2011-12-13 05:30:40 UTC

I wish I did have more Bandit bodies, but unfortunately the one in the photos is the only one I have and I use on my test chassis.

Sorry :-\

by olds45512 on 2011-12-13 18:53:26 UTC

While the idea is cool one of the problems I would see is that the abs body is much heavier than a stock lexan body so its going to be top heavy, that along with the extra speed is a sure way to destroy the body. I've tryed similar stuff over the years and the bodys just add to much weight.

by Gamester on 2011-12-13 23:52:48 UTC

This chassis actually works pretty well with the Bandit body surprisingly.  I don't find it to be any more top heavy than an original Bandit.  Sure, you would tear up bodies if you were skidding them across the pavement at top speed, but this is an offroad chassis and works well as such, even with the Bandit body.  But yes, I wouldn't recommend high speed turns on grippy pavement with any offroad vehicle ;D

by Gamester on 2012-01-02 03:31:20 UTC

Hey guys,

Last chance to get one of these as this is the last one I am going to sell due to the public responsiveness being much lower than anticipated...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/120835867744

Thanks,
Gamester

by olds45512 on 2012-01-02 19:11:48 UTC

As far as responsiveness goes I think you hurt your chances of selling by giving out to much information. If you would have called it an aftermarket chassis you may have done better but since you were very specific about what chassis it was im sure that everybody did the same exact thing I did which was look up it up on ebay and see that it could be purchased as a ready to run vehicle for around 120 bucks. Believe me I've come up with a few things that sold farly well and the key is to be cautious about what info you give out because in this day and age people are all about cutting out the middle man and buying direct so they can save some money.

by Gamester on 2012-01-02 20:40:41 UTC

Hello olds45512 ,

You may be right, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are getting here and that this is not just a standard Losi mini chassis.  This chassis requires about 3 hours worth of modifying to get it reconfigured to work with the pickup truck layout for the Bandit body.  You can't just by a regular Losi mini buggy and stick the Bandit body on it without making several modifications beforehand.

Thanks for the input.

by fatboyfsx on 2012-01-03 00:34:23 UTC

If it had a body it would have sold by now

by Gamester on 2012-01-03 02:18:19 UTC

Probably so.  I wish I had a bunch of Bandit bodies to go with the chassis, but I don't unfortunately :(

by Gamester on 2012-01-03 08:19:15 UTC

I just lowered the starting price to 149.99...

Hope that helps boost enthusiasm a bit ;)

My god, still not takers? :o

Ok, just relisted for the very final time at a price that is a big loss to me...

Somebody better take it this time, or I just may go mad ;D

Thanks

by fatboyfsx on 2012-01-12 04:40:34 UTC

I'd pick it up for sure for that price if I had a bandit body to throw on it. Good luck  :)
