« on: May 13, 2013, 03:18:12 »
i've been looking for the name of the monster truck tyco had during the late 80's before the Eliminator.
it came in red or black, big tires, same time as the bandit was for sale. i remember that kb toy store had it for $99.99.
always wanted one couldn't afford it, finally i get the money i get to the store and its discontinued!!! can you say childhood trama!!! ended up buying a game boy!!
if anyone knows the name or have pictures please help........

ps later in early the 90's i got the eliminator....

Might it have been the Hammer?  IIRC, the Hammer came out just before the Eliminator and was dubbed "Tyco's King of the Hill", whereas the Eliminator was supposedly Tyco's fastest truck when it released.  Having not owned either truck, (my Hammer is in the mail!) I'm not sure exactly how they differ.

I think the hammer came out after or close to the same time as the eliminator, which was early 90's (around 92-94). Neither one came out in the 80's. Of course i could be wrong, but im pretty sure the bandit was king of the hill back in the 80's. Only truck i can think of was a chevy style monster truck.

Hrm..  The Hammer was also known for being bright neon green.  :)  According to my 1992 catalog it was the first monster truck to use a 9.6v battery, but I'm sure other MTs preceded it.  I may have one of those Chevy trucks you mentioned, if that's the case it uses 4 AAs and i doubt it would have sold for $99, but then again I was too young to know about money back then.
