Hey, that's my project!

Today, I cut some ABS plastic for the controller and battery boxes.
I ordered some better 9.6 batteries a while back.

I should have the box plasti-welded up later this week.

Then from there it shouldn't be long before I get to do a test run.

It's a simple design. Pretty much 2 complete cars on the same frequency.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-09 02:10:48 UTC

Oh and I found a brand new fast traxx in the box with the remote I needed for $60 locally.
What a deal!

looks a great project rah 7777777.  i would love to see this project posted on these boards if you get the time , thanks

Yea, i'll get some pics up of the project soon.
Although, it all started a long time ago with my little brother.

We chopped up 2 fast traxx (YIKES!!) and built the skimpy metal frame for it. And back then we didnt really understand electronics too much so it never worked right.

But now that im a little older and wiser......its gonna be great :-)

I actually bought a new fast traxx in the box locally, when I drove the 2 hours to pick it up I realized it was way too nice to use anything out of that box, so I had to buy a used fast traxx to use the remote from it.

what can you do :-)

by notatoy on 2010-09-09 12:59:19 UTC

thanks rah 777777  , i will follow your project with great interest  i also found another fast traxx project though not as sophistcated as yours  this guy from team ubber modder put a cam on his fast traxx and it was controlled buy wi fi  see link  thanks again  .. http://ubermodder.com/fast-traxx-rover/

this sounds awesome. i hate having no knowledge of how to do this stuff haha, oh this things i would do. i am excited to see this beast in action! ;D

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-10 01:24:30 UTC

Today, I spent about an hour "plasti-welding" a box the exact size I needed.
It looks kinda like crap....but it sturdy!

Had to cut 5 pieces of plastic to my specs and "weld" them together.

I'll get some pics up before too long of everything now that the ball has started rolling a little faster.
Mainly b/c its been raining so much here and I'm stuck inside until it stops.
Ive been building a 7x20 foot storage shed and almost have the roof framed :-)

But if its raining out, I gotta keep busy and what better way to do it then blow time building a childish machine that will hopefully put a giant smile on my, well......childish face :-)

and thats almost a direct quote from the wife, haha!

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-10 01:32:22 UTC

nice haha, my girlfriend says similar things  ;D

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-10 04:06:32 UTC

Hit a roadblock! I was trying to mock up my "evil traxx" and found one of my speed control units is toast!

I have 2 other 49mhz fast traxx but one is BRAND NEW and the other is right behind it (but I do play with that one inside)

So Its off to the internet to find a green fast traxx.

anyone have one for sale? it can be busted up as long as the motors will still function good (or you know the motor is bad but the speed controller is good)

Im trying to get pics up soon..

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-10 04:14:28 UTC

Crappy frame... Please note this was built years ago with one of those little play metal kits.

Plasti-welding the box. (my plastic "soldering" iron is missing so I had to do the ole torch and screwdriver trick....so its not pretty!)

Perfect fitment!!

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-10 04:22:19 UTC

What body do you plan to fit this with?

And I have multiple fast traxx but I'm in the process of ridding them all of stripped gears and what not so you would need to wait for me, so just go to eBay!!!

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-10 04:44:51 UTC

Body??? who needs that! haha

No body in the plans. Just a crazy looking tank thingy.

I'm going to build a top for the speed controller box to keep dirt out though.

Do you have any of the circuit boards your not going to need from the core of the fast traxx?

if so let me know and how much your looking to get.

Thanks!

by notatoy on 2010-09-10 06:40:13 UTC

looks great rah  but to be honest you would be much better of with a cheap hobby grade esc  . i have used these cheap esc before from hong kong and they work flawless you would need two of them of course .pretty easy to do but i think you would have much more control  and these esc are real cheap   check them out http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EL-Model-RC-Car-300A-Motor-Speed-Controller-ESC-SE089-/390236045661?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item5adbe1815d great project  ;D ;)

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-10 12:05:55 UTC

actually i do have a curcit board that wasnt working for me ffrom a parts fast traxx.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-10 14:50:32 UTC

His is kinda a throw it together project. If it works, I'll probably do a complete rebuild and make it more of a 4x4 truck. Who knows though.

So was so board dead or just no use to you?

Thanks everyone!

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-10 18:08:34 UTC

i think its dead the car wouldn't go, or even signal too me that it was on the light stayed off. so i checked the engines and they work, so i'm gunna use them on another.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-14 05:15:48 UTC

Bummer!!
If anyone has a 49 MHz fast traxx or scorcher for sale please let me know. I only need a working internal circuit board.

Or hell, two 27mhz of the same.

So close.....yet so far :-)

by notatoy on 2010-09-14 15:09:04 UTC

Rah 777777777777 i only wish i had the parts for you , just so i could see this monster in operation  ,but  unfortunatly i do not  :'( good luck with finding the electronics  ;D

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-14 15:50:18 UTC

I need to go visit my folks sometime soon and see what's boxed up in there garage.
I just might have some old R/C stuff.

I'll get it done somehow.
Hell, maybe I'll donthe hobby grade parts.

by dragon on 2010-09-17 02:43:26 UTC

This looks like an interesting project. I hope you get some videos of it running at some point.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-24 04:27:00 UTC

I'm just hoping to get it running period at some point, HAHA!

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-24 16:30:28 UTC

so what is wrong with using that yellow fast traxx not in box that you have?

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-27 17:32:36 UTC

The yellow one is in MINT shape. I actually have the box for it, but I needed one to play with :-)

I'm hoping to find a beater that the board still works on it.

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-27 21:02:34 UTC

i'll trade you  ;)

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-27 21:07:16 UTC

so does that mean you actually have two really nice yellow fast traxx? cause i saw the one in the box and then that one infront of it.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-28 03:15:53 UTC

Yea, one is brand new in the box, the other I bought "used" in the box, but it looked MINT! I doubt it was ever really used. I went ahead and kept that one out of the box to play around in the house with.

Too nice to chop for my quad motor creation.

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-28 03:45:51 UTC

well i have two runner yellow fast traxx. i would trade for a nicer one  ;)

by Rah7777777 on 2010-09-29 05:10:42 UTC

Let's see em...

by czstycor/c on 2010-09-29 14:18:01 UTC

look under the thread my collection and you will see all of mine

by Rah7777777 on 2010-11-09 04:37:05 UTC

YAY! I finally bought a "parts" car that has a working circuit board in it!

I've been building a 7'x20' storage shed beside the house that ive just about got done.
Finished shingling the roof last weekend, just gotta build the doors, paint and build all my shelves inside it and im done! That should free up plenty of time for useless projects such as a quad motored fast traxx :-)

I hope to get it going before December....but I doubt it!

by czstycor/c on 2010-11-09 15:40:04 UTC

I believe in you!! and maybe i'll buy your super fast traxx off of ebay

by Rah7777777 on 2010-11-10 01:56:13 UTC

Buy it, buy it, buy it :-)

I'd love to get 2,000 bucks out of it!
I'll sell it to you for only $1,000!

HAHAHAHA

seriously I'll be happy with 50 bucks

by czstycor/c on 2010-11-10 03:01:59 UTC

haha without traxx that is a push.

by Rah7777777 on 2010-11-10 05:27:06 UTC

Alright... $750.

HAHA

by czstycor/c on 2010-11-10 21:09:43 UTC

haha maybe 40.

by Rah7777777 on 2014-03-12 05:33:51 UTC

Decided to sell off the project.
