THANKS bro yes the e-revo is fun ,i just aquierd a couple of fast lane r/c  Jeep Grand Cherokee  toys  from my brother in law he brought them up from london today. no remotes and the body's are a little batterd nothing that carn't be fixed both had the 9.6 volt nicad batt packs installed not sure what to do with them yet i may part them out or of course could convert them  ;D will get some pics , thanks  ;)

the one I know I'll never get rid of is the 1988 Tyco Indy Turbo (pennzoil) car.
My earliest memory or playing with R/C cars is with a car just like this one.

I remember Christmas morning when I was probably 6 years old, my folks bought me this one. It had the little fake cones and me and pops hit up the local K Mart parking lot after the batts charged! Loved it!

Although, my wife hates me "wasting" money on this stuff, she doesnt realize I want to keep it all for our kids.
I want to show my kids what I had and loved as a kid. Since she is prego now with our first, its gonna be a while before they see or even play with any of them  ;D

man those were the days when toys were ACTUALLY toys.

thats the taiyo rookie ace 9.6v better than the bandit for wheelies and on the offroad if ur on grass where it got lots of grip it will wheelie from stand still as soon as you hit the power

hehe the lambos are good tv 1s are alright the small kitt cars are best tho 1987 matsushiro knight rider .knight 2000 it takes 8xAAs 2 speed crazy for doughnuts and speed for a toy of its size but the front light aint a scanner light just glows brighter the faster u go and has alot ALOT more power and speed than the bigger kitt has but the bigger kitt got kitt sounds and a propper scanner light

-thanks scorcher, I've never heard of it, but it looks cool.  Did any of you guys ever see the pull-back & release Tyco Fast Traxx toy?  I had one when I was just starting high school, (about 16-17 years ago).  It was spot on w/the Neon Green fast traxx car,(I never saw another after it).  We jumped cardboard ramps w/it :)
-Also, I had a Micro (still full-function) Rebound.  Not based on the Super Rebound w/the stunt arm, but the orig., it was red & blue, (pretty sure, been a long time).  It would do the flips, & had good power (charged from the controller, I think runtime was around 3 min. (but that depended, of course, what you were doing w/it).  The trick that Tyco used to allow it to flip, was the tires.  2 were very hard compound, & 2 were very soft.  Since I'm handicapped, my friend, Mike, (also a RC nut), visits me, & takes time out of his scedule, etc., so I gave it to him.  I wish Tyco would have done a Fast Traxx in that small scale, I was shocked when I first came here & saw a Mini Fast Traxx,& not F/F!? :o

Would you be able to make the mini traxx fulfunction? And yeah that little rebound was on eBay.

-maybe, now that you mention it, w/the Micro Rebound elects., I think it may try yo spin out of the tracks when turning tho.  All we ever did w/it, was pull back & let it go.  A good obstacle for it, (& other small vechicles, RC or not), was a phone book, layed out on the floor opened up to the middle.

-the Micro Fast Traxx doesn't use any batteries, it's a pull back (internal wind-up), setup, no AA's, the Micro Rebound is about the same size tho, so in theory, w/enough skill, a RC Micro Fast Traxx is possible.  the Micro rebound charges from its controller, it must have a watch battery in it, etc.

Savedone---well, i'm saying i have a mini traxx, not a micro that is simple function, that should be made full function.

well, i have both versions of the mini traxx as you see if you look at my collection. too bad right after i got them there was one on ebay. i would let someone tinker with the one mini because i'm lacking the remote but i would want it back haha, even though the other is mib.

-I'll get one someday, I mean, hey look how far ahead I am, I know they exist ;D  Not to mention, I have a bunch of stuff I still need to work on.

both lambos are about the same but the taiyo got slick tyres so better for doughnuts but both are about the same power and speed

I have to admit though, this is my favorite basher car! Brushless on Lipo's, This thing will run. Although my bigger Traxxas will probably beat it with the brushless on  its liFe battery.

My favorite is the Bandits, the fastest is prolly between the Red Arrow/Black Wolf/Turbo Thruster. And the colorful truck is a RadioShack Fierce Warrior which is the same truck as the original Nikko Scorpion.

Whats funny is that if you look close at the fastlane sand ripper (bought from toysrus) this year, its the exact same buggy as the Black Wolf that was purchased in 1991. Kinda funny they are reproducing it 19yrs later.

Those were the same bandits, i have 3 bandits in boxes. LOL i wish i had more! I like collecting the Radioshack/Nikko stuff cuz they usually dont go for very much on ebay and you get more car for your money.

i have one of the original nikko scorpions, the yellow one i think it was the first versoin, have you seen that black phantom truck by radio shack on ebay? same truck as the scorpion 2 but radio shacks version, i had both versions when i was a kid and the black phantom seam to have more balls than the scorpion 2,


the 7.2 scorpion really isnt much faster than the 9.6 version but i guess it gets around in the grass

my suspicions where right here is my scorcher my g/f got me for christmas its in pretty good condition it was in a shop window in town /cash generater new and used / shop they wanted £30 about $45 for but she got it for £25 / $38  ;D coz there wasnt a battery and charger with it but they said they had tested it and worked fine so it was a good fined by my g/f  :)

ive bought a mint taiyo jet fighter to but it didnt come friday so it should be here next working day ill get a pic up of it when i get it

I had the Chevy truck a long time ago!!!  I mean I must have been about 11 or 12 years ago, & I'll be 31 in about a week!!!  It's called the Tyco R/C "Chevy P/U", in the box, it came w/5 road cones to setup lottle courses.  They're a great little truck to modify, I painted mine (that was moddin' to me back then.  Thanks for the nice memory :)

welcome haha. i can make it go forward and reverse, but can't steer it. i left it turned on when i went down stairs to test another car and it was the same frequency or close and that little truck drove right off the shelf haha.

i would love to buy it i got loads of spairs to fix it but im a bit tight i spent most of my savings lol on my hobby cars and upgrades  ;D  how much you want for it may be if i talk nice to the misses she give me money from her savings lol

The name of the truck is the "4WD TURBO RACING PICKUP" and it was made in 1988 only. I actually still have the original charger and batteries and they still hold full charge lol, no corrosion whatsoever! Im kinda jealous, youve got the red one. I saw one on ebay a while back and forgot to watch the auction end so I missed it. Ive had this one for about 5 years and its the only one new in box ive ever seen.  Heres a better view of the box

preformerpm saw one early last year in box i believe.mine are both mint and havn't been run reallt at all, but i don't have the batteries and charger. and i had to get a remote and make a battery door for my blue one. red one had everything

Yeah this was before tyco got involved in everything. Literally right after this generation of cars Tyco named everything when they went from AA's to using 9.6v packs and the early 90's graphics on their boxes. I only see these trucks come along every 2 or 3 years. Ive been watching auctions like a hawk and if I happen to see another red one I wont be able to pass it up

yeah i got my blue one this summer and the red one a few weeks ago. i am just shocked to see the box, and that makes sense the AA cars all have taiyo distinctly on the box, with little flair like the 9.6v models

From everything I know I believe this is the rarest truck tyco ever made right behind the impossible to find 2nd gen twin turbo lamborghini. Wish there were more of them because I would totally be installing a brushless setup in one if I could get ahold of them easier

and i believe you are wrong i would say the harley davidsin bandit the did in 1993 i believe is the rarest. schorcher is the only one with one. but then these are.

yeah that was my red bandit that I used team associated rcmt18 parts to convert the suspension over to. I will post some pics here in a bit. As far as rarity goes ive watched the auctions almost every single week for the last 9 years. Heres how many ive seen on ebay in that time:

0- 2nd gen twin turbo lamborghinis

10- 4WD turbo racing pickups

13- 9.6v harley davidson pickups


There were only a handful of the of the Lamborghinis made and just enough for the stores to have them from summer to christmas. The 4wd turbo racing pickup was common for back in the day and was made for a whole year. The harley truck was a limited production rc too but the reason ive probably seen more of them than the 4wd turbo racing pickup is because it has 5 years on the 4wd and that 5 years of them getting broken, lost and thrown away by people who dont know what they have. The first gen twin turbo lambo is still very common but all time most rare, lowest production and hardest to find Tyco would definitely be the 2nd gen twin turbo with the big square remote.

I still remember when I was about 7 walking into toys r us and seeing the outlaw trucks next to the harley trucks. I think the harley was selling for $69.00 and the outlaw was $49.00. I couldnt remember if they were on sale at the time but they were released as soon as they stopped making the bandit. The Harley was supposed to be the next generation of bandit and ended up being the last.

and you sure you not including min harley pick ups, cause ive seen at least three of those in the last year and i got one of them.
now after seeing your 4x4 that make 4 complete ones i've seen plus one that is was just the body being put on a hobby grade chassis.

but i haven't seen any of the 2nd generation lambos either. now i want one.

Ive seen dozens of the mini harley trucks over the years just never thought to buy one. About half of the 9.6v harley trucks ive seen were in the box.

I still wanna kick myself for returning my 2nd gen twin turbo lambo just cause of the wing. Its the only one ive seen since 1998 and probably one of the last ill ever see.

I got your message about the outlaw last night but it logged me out as i sent the reply. I have a mint red outlaw that I might consider selling just need to think of whats fair/what i wanna let it go for. Im gonna dig them out of the rc closet today so i can get new pictures of everything

I had lambos, mutators and all kinds growing up and after making some rediculous hobby cars I still prefer my old tyco and radio shack cars. Whats cool is my fiancee totally supports me collecting and doing anything with rc cars so i dont see it slowing down anytime soon.

Im gonna post a ton of pics today since my ive closed the shop for the weekend. I just think its cool to see there are people out there who have the same interest in these cars so id love to share the collection

i would love to come see those car you got in your shop!! haha, my first real rc is my super fast traxx. i played with that thing like crazy. i ramped it OOOOOPPPSSSS, don't do that!!! haha my dad had to fix it i broke the female ends of the shocks, and a tread, so we had to order parts for it, and its funny cause my mom bought it at a boscov's clearance tent sale. then waited years to give it to me till i was 9. i think its cool that it came out the same year i was born 92. i will say the super fast traxx seems more solidly built than any other one i have.

I will probably use aluminum tubing and bend them to match and it will have to be made out of 2 peices. Oh heres a 1/10 version of the 4wd truck if there was one . This is a tamiya f-150 prerunner 4wd all stock and ran once. Yes that is a tire under the back i was using it to support the extra weight and level the truck

Its about 20mph as is sits bone stock. I have built one up to do over 40mph and with the electronics i have to put in it it could do over 70mph with the right gearing.

20mph. that really isn't that fast considering a hopper does 16 supposedly

i wouldnt mind having one of those, accorse id want 40 mph at least

yeah like 19.5ish i think. so the top end tycos are bottom end hobby grade. speed accourse the gears and stuff are sub par

the turbo hopper does 27 km/h asuming the bandit is the same. that is 16.8 mph!

the i believe in tyco it would be the super hopper 4wd(correct me if i'm wrong please) does 25 km/h which is 15.5 mph!

the twin turbo aero hopper does 31 km/h which is 19.3 mph!

the grabber 4wd( forget what it is in tyco's line) does 20 km/h which is 12.4 mph!

the 4x4 Bandit does 24 km/h which is 14.9 mph!
they call it a racing pick up 4wd

The fastest tyco ever made was in this order

1 2nd gen twin turbo 17+

2 1st gen twin turbo 16

3 hopper/blaster 15-16

4 eliminator then bandit 15

The twin turbo hoppers were basically the same as a 4wd turbo racing pickup and never were able to do 19mph

now is that the 4x4 hopper compared to the 4x4 trucks or is it the twin aero hopper compared to the 4x4 trucks.


i kinda figured the hopper/blasters and bandits were pretty much the same speed

People have tried to guess the speeds on these for years but ive owned every single one of them and have raced most together at some point. Speeds I have are not only drawn from research but using an accurate radar

now the speeds i got were strait from taiyo so they probably rated them higher than they were, and the twin hopper is way faster than the 4x4 bandit. this one is the one we mean. not the twin 4wd hopper

i couldnt tell any difference in motor sizes between the bandit/eliminator, i thought the speed increase was from gearing and extra power to the motor in the eliminator. ive used either one in both eliminators and bandits



i have a blaster coming but aside from that ive never had any of the others except a parts twin aero hopper

yeah it is fast, so i could use the sevvo out of my parts eliminator to fix the steering or just the pastic peices.

still but the eliminater had to put more power out to the hotter motor too, because i put an eliminator rear diff with eliminator motor on a bandit and it didnt have near the get up as eith one of the bandits or eliminators i had that were untouched, must a been a combination of better motor and power

yeah running the wrong speed control can actually slow it down and if somewhere in it you didnt make a good connection or used too much solder on the wires it would slow it down a ton

so, a bandit rear gear diff lower gears than eliminator, along with eliminator motor and speed control should make for a faster than original bandit? with more wheelie power than either bandit or eliminator

i will try it when my other eliminators come.

see the bandit fast traxx in there with new treads, thats my 3rd favorite after the 2 red bandits as for the regular fast traxx truck, its pretty nice but will need treads, ill probaly swap with one of the fast traxx i have coming this week.

actually i can tell which sould be in the box. it is the one thaty doesn't have the yellow tyco flag! haha but you did a great job fixing that one up!

and WOW :o look how tight the treads are on the bandit traxx! it looks amazing!!! haha

yes, those new treads made all the difference on the bandit traxx!!!!! it didnt look very good with the stretched ones.



yeah the one missing the flag is one from the box, but did you notice how nice the chrome is on the bumpers and roll bar on the other? it was ashame that bumper was broken off because other than that its like new, i plastic epoxied it back together which you can see in one of the pics, i was gonna put another bumper on but this ones chrome was to nice to throw out.


my other black bandit in the box had the same issue, when i got it the bumper was broke with nice chrome so i had to put another on, i need to figure out a way to get 3-4 bumpers rechromed

yeah, well i don't have that problem sine i only have one with a chrome bumper.

Sweet collection! You have now convinced me to change my focus on rc project hobby cars to tyco project cars. Heres what ive got in mind now:

Well i had a deal worked out on the two black bandits i had on ebay for 350, then the guy backed out and wanted a new one, so i listed a new one and he didnt wanna spend that kind of money, after a crap ton of 150 dollar offers on a brand new bandit i got mad and just took them off, but sumone did buy the mini bandit for the 100 dollar buy it now.  So i still have both bandits and i guess i will just keep them i dont think i will ever be able to part with them for such a small amount of money.

i just got my twin lambo, even with a dead battery this thing is cool, i had a regualr single last summer that sucked, you had to be going forward or backwards to turn it, and even on smoot floor it sucked, i didnt know the twins had a much better suspension and didnt know they had a servo til the other day.


i also got my other fast traxx that came with it that ive been saving the box for from the other traxx i bought, i wish i could always buy in this nice a condition

yeah its the white box, but in pretty good shape, and the fast traxx i got with the lambo is almost like new.

finally tried out the lambo, it was hard to tell how fast it really was because even though the tires are in great shape and all, they keep balloning and then the wheel spins inside the tires, its at least as fast as a bandit though, it slides all over the place even out in the road.

it takes off slow but i think thats the wheel spinning issue, you can see the rim spinning its jus not moving

duct tape the inside of the tires.

my mutator came today way better than my taiyo version

Yeah that is the last and one of the best cars tyco ever made. The taiyo version is junk, only downside this version had was that they had clutches in the hubs that like to weaken over time and eventually just go out. If you can press the housing off and glue them they will be invincible. My original mutator from 96 did it and another one I bought for a driver did it so i got a 3rd one and it doesnt click unless im really pushing it. I think even my nib mutator clicked once.

Ahh the memories of blasting through deep water and mud, they have the best ground clearance for sand and mud runs.

yes! my mutator can keep a close race with the super fast traxx off road.

I think after I do a few of the bandit/hopper projects im gonna try to do a twin hobby setup mutator with steel gears

that would be insane! but u have plenty of them to do it to.

the mutator is a pretty good all rounder ive tested it in a few different terrains and it does pretty good better than what i thought it would do

I've been thinking about getting Vanessa's Lunchbox, or a some other kit, that I could build up with my son. My wife is encouraging me to get back into R/C cars anyway since it's something I can do with the kids more.

for somthing to build together with ur son if he is young the lunchbox would be great its simple to build the instructions are simple to follow get ur self the upgrade bearings too there cheap to buy and even if ur using a stock motor it will pop wheelies easy there great fun trucks

The Dune Devils?  They're pretty fun. quick and very durable. I've beaten the crap out of em at skate parks and launched em offa 6 ft jumps on to parking lots and nothings broken, jus chipped the edges of the rims.

to think!!!! it was probally less than a year ago cz was posting the first time on here looking for information on vintage tycos trying to figure out which one would be the best to buy......at that time i think his collection was just the super fast traxx.

i think his collection is only 2nd in size to to tyco bandit kings

probably a little more than that cause i have lots of parts, and once i fix them up they will be worth more, plus i have a few hundreds worth in treads for the fast traxx and sf traxx.

oh and i didn't picture a in box scorcher, and in box typhoon.

those last two bandits on the right should be switched the yellow body is on the yellow baja bandits chasis. i wanted to see what the yellow body would look like with chrome to see which i liked better before i ship it off to you preformer.
i found that mint outlaw on ebay, it was on for a minute or so with a buy it now.

the red beater bandit needs to be fixed haha my lil bro ran it into something at full speed and i had the window out so the frame around the front window is broke, and the casing over the electronics broke in the back at a screw hole but j.b. weld will do the trick

i think a have more tycos than bandit king unless he has more somewhere. but his collection is bigger

just redish/orange and yellow, although the maximum heat series re-release of the fast traxx is a tad brighter redish/orange and the yellow has a lil more green in it.

One thing i found interesting about the super streak (witch is kinda beat) the motors are layed out like the fast traxx, not stacked like the others, they are left and right, and the board has a cover over it unlike the rest...weird

anyone else have a blimp in their r/c collectin? I'm trying to figure out where i can fill it up without looking like a dork or buying a crappy helium kit from walmart, so I haven't even taken it out of the box. I can find places where they fill tanks but can only find tanks so far used on craigslist and i'm a little hesitant to buy a used anything that holds compressed gases of any kind. I think i may train my 3 year old to ask stores if they can fill "his" toy but i'm having trouble training him to order a cinnamon twist at taco bell so let's see about that one.

id love to see that thing in action,,although id be afraid it would just float away id never get it back lol,,and you can take your son to chucky cheese and bring it right in,they dont care what kind of boxed toy you bring in and there tanks are self serve to and extent in each party room

and my mini typhoon ii wich i have decide to put on ebay...not sure when but before christmas most likely. this typhoon came with the scorcher. i tried to talk the lady into just buying the scorcher since i was never into the hovercraft even when they were out in stores but the lady wanted to keep them as a pair and i got a good deal either way.

thats the cleanest gray scorcher ive ever seen !!!,,scorchers are pretty nutty on a full charge so they get beat up pretty easy very very nice find sir

anyone have a tyco burnout turn-in-reverse car when they were younger? i picked one up from a thrift store and dont really want it so seeing if maybe it would bring back some memories for someone out there. i dont have a controller for it so can't test it but the wheel spin when you turn it on i just cant test the forward function but it looks really good. reply if you want me to e-mail you a picture. it wont let me upload on here.

my fav's are actually the nikkos, more so since most are from france and come with reg remotes, not the tank style, its more fun and easier, and i got to maxx traxx's off here

i caught em soon after they where up for 100, and im glad i finally got a wild cougar , could never find one

lucky dog they arent easy to find.  neither is the wild cougar, but the road shredder wasn't easy for me to find.

came yesterday man said its never been used only tested before selling its pretty good not as good as the fast traxx but good

the fast traxx doesnt work but in pretty good condition the treads are good havnt streched much but i got a pretty good working 1 here with no traxx ill take them apart and use the best bits from each 1 so im gonna customize it abit post pics when im finished

had my 9.6v rampage today dont know if its because it looks more bulkier or what but the 360 spins look slower but when you go straight looks the same speed

Various sizes of Fast Traxx, just need a Super Fast Traxx to complete the line-up! Thankfully it's not impossible to find, just expensive :/  The second is part of my XRC collection, it's almost impossible to get stuck since the tracks run the whole width of the vehicle. This is actually from when I was a kid, XRC had some primo stuff but I guess wasn't as popular (or too expensive) and I haven't seen much of their stuff being passed around these days.

I think what you have there, is a little Taiyo release of a Porsche 959, in which they used fake sponsor decals.

dang....tumbleweeds here....lol...where everyone go?...well i still have my main 4 tycos....the 2 red bandits 1 black one and the hobby upgraded bandit.....it just sits on shelf in storage....just as well....40 plus mph wrecks are havoc on these old time toys....i did snag a nice radio shack truck i use to have as a kid....black phantom2....its the rs version of the nikko scorpion and scorpion2, but the black phantom doesnt have hi lo range.....but...if i remember...faster than scorpion 2...

The black phantom 2, scorpion 2 and 3 are all identical and all 1 speed. Me and my wife were running the phantom 2 an scorpion 3 head to head one time and they were running the same speed. Also the blue Nikko tacoma is the same just has the short axle.

i never had the 3,  my red scorpion 2 was a snail....compared to my blk phantom....corse, coulda been diff in batteries....however....lol....soon as i can....i plan on hobby grading the phantom.

The 2's were all neon yellow and the 3's were all red. Other than that they are all identical chassis wise. I've had a couple of each chassis that were slow due to a worn out motor but all of these had the same motor

In order to get the wheels to fit you would have to make adapters and it would be more trouble than its worth. The stock rears are actually pretty tough and would handle plenty of power. I will have to make videos once I've converted another to a hobby car with 2 speed. Goal is to use the original radio so it still looks stock :)

Wow, awesome collection. Very Jealous of that Porsche 962 and Twin Turbo Lambo Countach, I really want them for my collection but Taiyo branded since I am in Europe.

Taiyo Racing Pick Up 4WD from 1987. First time I have ever seen a boxed Taiyo version.

That's a pretty great find Hopper. The Racing Pick Up is hard to find in any condition, but as you say, finding those original Taiyo black box versions is quite a challenge.

I have a black box Taiyo Lamborghini Countach LP500S on the way to me at the moment, but it cost me an arm and a leg. As you say, these things almost never come up.

I've also sold quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, with Christmas on the way...so most of the rarities I had for sale have now been snapped up by people to give as Christmas presents (stats: 7 cars sold in past fortnight, 5 of which were new in box).

Yeah, I was very surprised to find it, especially with the box. It is not in perfect condition but I got it for a very reasonable price considering it rarity. Please upload some pics of your Lambo when you get it, they are going for crazy prices. Even more for Ferrari 348 tb without box!
