Table-top Games / Re: Jaipur
« Last post by Dragon on October 23, 2023, 18:48:08 »
Last night Beth and I played Jaipur. She hadn't played it before, but it's not too difficult to learn so it was a good choice for the evening to just relax. Beth won the first round, but I won the next two rounds to win the game. I do hope that we're able to get this game out again. I play it often on BoardGameArena.com, but not nearly as much face-to-face.

Grace suggested playing Pathfinder over the weekend. We played one game in the morning and one game in the evening. I won both times. Grace said that I was cheating because I just ran along the outside of the board at one point and was able to move several spaces in a single turn.

I played Stone Age with my two youngest daughters again. It was actually suggested by one of them recently, so I was happy to jump at the opportunity to play a game with them.

Both girls did well. Anna was the first one with points on the board, but Grace and I caught up soon after. In the end, I had many cards that I bought and before I had even finished scoring up a quarter of my cards, I had jumped from the back to the front in score.

Unfortunately, printing the Black Knight helmet failed half way through. I'm using the technique described on the previous page, but realized it probably needed to adjust the G28 (the command to home all axes). I found another site that explained it: https://all3dp.com/2/g28-g-code-homing/
Now, am I able to get this to successfully return to a print job that was nearly 2 days in?

Today I came across a site that had some interesting tips for being able to continue a 3d print that stopped. I haven't read through it all, but it looks helpful, so if there is ever a need to start halfway through a project, it might be worth checking out this page:

3D Printing Tech Tips: Recover a Failed Print

This solution can help you recover your print if it failed due to the following reasons:

  • Extruder jammed in the middle of a print
  • Power fluctuations caused the printer to restart
  • Extruder ran out of filament (assuming you do not have filament sensors installed)

Fully 3D-printable wind-up car gift card - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3308710/files

This is one that I printed recently on my Artillery Sidewinder X2. It turned out well. I did need to adjust the wind key to print at 98% of the original size in order to get it to fit. I also needed to file the inside of the wheels where they connect to the axels. Aside from that, everything worked straight off printing the two cards.

I found this fairly flat 3d model of an Iron Man helmet which I thought would be great to include on a lid for a box to put my Iron Man 2: Game Of War into - https://www.printables.com/en/model/516945-hueforge-iron-man-helmet/files

Also while looking for some useful models to base my box on, I found this wearable Iron Man helmet mode - https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-ironman-helmet-181399

Others to use with my box...

Table-top Games / HeroScape Returns
« Last post by Dragon on October 01, 2023, 21:50:11 »
Today I came across a neat website that offered 3d-printable terrain pieces that are very similar to HeroScape stuff, but in a ton of varieties. Take a look at https://www.hygroundtiles.com/index.php and their Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/hygroundtiles/?etsrc=sdt .

Renegade Game Studios has recently announced that they are bringing back the HeroScape game. They have partnered with Hasbro for official licensing and will be releasing new terrain pieces, faction packs, and more. Check out the latest at https://renegadegamestudios.com/heroscape-news !

Tampa Bay Gaming Groups / Warehouse 51 in Tarpon Springs
« Last post by Dragon on October 01, 2023, 17:00:18 »
My son and I stopped by Warehouse 51 in Tarpon Springs for the first time in years. I was happily surprised to see that they had nearly doubled the shop size compared to what it was before. They were still in the same plaza, at the corner of US-19 and Klosterman Rd, but had moved down to the other end of the strip where they had more space. They have a bigger sign at the front of the store now, but I'm not sure if it's visible from the road. (I didn't see it when I had looked before, but I was looking toward the other end when I passed by there from the angle that it might be visible.) While we were there, we saw several people playing Dungeons & Dragons. I think there were a couple people playing Magic: The Gathering also. The shop had even more games available for purchase than they had at the previous location. Fortunately for me, they happened to have exactly the game I was thinking about before I went in, so I managed to get an out-of-print game that had been on my Wish List for a while - New Angeles.
